Jack Graman
My name is Jack Graman, I am a recent graduate from Austin College (class of 2026) with a double major in International Economics & Finance and Political Science and a minor in German Studies. I will be attending SMU Dedman School of Law next fall and I hope to become a Navy JAG officer after graduating from law school. I have conducted research and studied abroad in several countries including: most of Western Europe, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, and Australia. I am very interested in international politics, world history, and military strategy. I have a deep appreciation for my family’s history and connection to this country. Outside of academics I enjoy reading, playing bass guitar, and spending time with my family. I am very proud to be a part of the Cabell extended family.

My story of becoming a Cabell is a modern one! Five years ago, I took a DNA test and found out that my father was not my biological father. As an amateur genealogist, this gave me a real life project to find my paternal family and our story. Luckily for me, it only took me a few months. Thanks to Ancestry.com I was able to find my niece, half-brother, first cousin, and aunt. My bio brother and bio dad both have Cabell as their middle name and they knew it was important but didn’t know why. My aunt has been incredibly welcoming and kind and we share so many similarities that it is beyond coincidence.
I am a mother of two adult children and a grandmother to three, soon to be four, grandchildren. I live in San Diego, California and I am a first grade teacher. I was Teacher of the Year a while back and I work hard on my craft.
I enjoy history, genealogy, cooking, entertaining, interior design, and lunching with my friends. My dad (both dads) was a surfer, and I grew up in Hawaii and then moved to an Indian Reservation in Arizona. Once I turned 18, I moved to San Diego where my maternal family has been since the late 1800s. I went to San Diego State University where 4 generations have attended.
My maternal side of the family has been a member of Daughters of the American Revolution for 4 generations along with other lineage societies. When I learned of my DNA information, I worked with my aunt to trace our line, and I was elated to find such an important and historical family. I added Samuel Jordan Cabell as my supplemental ancestor patriot a few years ago and I am proud to wear his name on my ribbon!
I have shared the Cebell Family website with my family here on the West Coast. We are all so impressed with how much work has been done, especially the American 250 tab. I love the timeline and map showing our family’s contribution to the Patriot Cause.
This summer, I am taking 3 weeks to explore my American Revolution roots of both sides of my family. After Continental Congress, I will spend a week in Virginia, a few days in Philadelphia, and then Boston as my final leg. I hope to meet some of you along the way!
