The William Meredith Cabell House is also known as the Cabell-Ribble-Heath House. It is located on the north side of Norwood Road near Altavista overlooking Christ Episcopal Church. It is designated as part of the Norwood-Wingina Rural Historic District by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.
Timeline of Home Ownership
- 1854 -1860 William Meredith Cabell (1823-1898), son of Col. Edward A. Cabell and grandson of Col. William Cabell, Jr. He bought Altavista in 1854, and it is assumed he built this home on the property.
- William Meredith Cabell moved to Wilderness in Buckingham County around 1860.
- 1860 – ? William H. Ribble and Fanny Goodwin Ribble
- 1978 – 1995 Marsha Wilkins
